The Applied Mathematics Program provides students with an integral and relevant professional training. It aims to prepare them to become a highly competent and liberally educated mathematician who can construct mathematical models of real-world situations to aid in decision-making and effectively communicate the results of their research.
The BS Applied Mathematics Program rests on a strong liberal arts foundation and is directed towards an understanding of mathematical theories and their application to different fields of study. Emphasis is placed on precision of definition, reasoning to arrive at accurate conclusions, and analysis and formulation of solutions to problems using mathematical principles.
Unlike other similar programs in other universities, UA&P’s BS Applied Mathematics Program is flexible enough to allow students to study their chosen fields of application such as actuarial science, mathematical finance, operations research, biological and social sciences, statistics, computer science, systems analysis, risk, consulting, decision, control, and possibly a combination of these. This undergraduate degree provides an excellent basis for graduate work in applied mathematics or computer science, or for employment in the math-related fields mentioned.

Our faculty members are all with either doctoral or masteral degrees in mathematics with various fields of specialization either in pure or applied mathematics.
As a graduate of the BS Applied Mathematics Program, a student can become a risk manager, finance engineer, actuary, decision manager, quality control manager, securities trader, financial advisor, computer programmer, information and software engineer, research engineer, mathematical biologist, mathematical modeler, computational scientist, mathematical economist, math researcher, or math professor.
A student can also earn important roles in the following emerging fields both in the Philippines and abroad: bioinformatics and systems biology, data mining, materials science, computer animation and digital imaging, finance and economics, ecology, epidemiology, environmental issues, and climatology.
