Kultura to open Italian comedy

The Kultura Desk of the Center for Student Affairs (CSA) will run The Servant of Two Masters, a comedy written by 18th century Italian playwright Carlo Goldoni, tonight for a preview at 7:30 pm.

The performances possess a modern sitcom twist, giving humorous interpretation to stereotyped characters—the chivalrous lover, the lady in distress, the foolish master, and the manipulative servant—from the time the play was written.

The play is directed by UA&P alumni Mr. X Vallez and Mr. JJ Rimando. Mr. Vallez is a two-time Carlos Palanca award winner. The play also features UA&P theater talents from among our students, alumni, and employees such as Cesca Litton, Kelly Lati, Pam Imperial, Rhenz Gabalonzo, and Joel Parcon.

Ian Amane and Renz Gabalonzo are cast as Truffaldino, the servant who attends to two love-stricken masters while trying to deal with his chronic hunger.

Beatrice (Lati and Litton) disguises as her dead brother as an excuse to travel to Venice to look for her lover Florindo (Parcon and Dae Hyuk Lee) and to collect dowry money from her brother’s engagement with Clarice (Erin Locsin and Isay Camus). To her dismay, she discovers Clarice has since been engaged to another man, Silvio (Joaquin Coromina).
