The Motor Vehicle Development Program (MVDP) is not likely to be passed this quarter due to the delay in the submission of a study commissioned by the private sector.

Cristino Panlilio, executive director of the Board of Investments (BOI), said the agency has yet to receive the study, made by the University of Asia and the Pacific, on the motor vehicle industry, the findings of which are to be incorporated in the implementing rules of the MVDP.

The study was due at the end of last month.

According to Panlilio, it would take another month for the BOI to review the study’s findings, pushing the issuance of the MVDP guidelines to the second quarter of the year.

The BOI is conducting public hearings on the implementing rules and regulations of two key provisions of the MVDP so as not to disrupt their implementation.
