It turns out they were winners in a grander manner.

Ms. Aileen Apolo, Google’s Regional Head for Outreach in Asia, recently revealed that Team UA&P actually topped the Google Online Marketing Challenge in the Philippines.

The team was also ranked among the Asia-Pacific region’s top 5 teams — not just among the top 15, as earlier reported.

School of Management alumni Rob Barretto, Cai Crisostomo, Boggs Mendoza, and Celine Lacuna were in the final year of their master’s degree program in management when they joined the Challenge.

In a meeting with team coach Mr. Kahlil Corazo, Ms. Apolo said UA&P was part of the final 20 teams considered for the global and regional prizes. About 3,000 teams joined the contest this year.

Also in the meeting were School of Management Dean Stan Padojinog, Department of Information Science and Technology Head Mr. Vince Cruz, and School of Communication faculty Mr. Jason de Villa.
