The University community gathered before the shrine of the Blessed Virgin Mary at the heart of the campus in response to a bishop’s invitation to pray the rosary in a continuous campaign for world peace.

While most participants were students, various members of the faculty, staff, Student Executive Board (SEB), administration, maintenance, and chaplaincy also attended the rally. Representatives from different school units led the university in each mystery.

Ms. Calai Clarino, head of UA&P Kultura, said that event is faithful to the school’s spiritual formation because of the university’s deep devotion to Mother Mary, as seen by the crowds that attended the Marian Serenade last August.

The activity is part of a project lasting eight months called “A Million Roses For The World” initiated by Lingayen-Dagupan archbishop Socrates Villegas to pray the rosary for one country each day for two hundred days.

“This campaign aims to teach our youth that prayer can change the world and people who pray can change the destinies of peoples,” Bishop Villegas said in a statement.

The campaign, initiated by the Family Rosary Crusade of the Philippines, began on October 10 and will continue up to May 30, 2012.
