University of Navarra (Spain) professor Luis Ravina recently visited UA&P for a study on poverty alleviation.

The Spanish professor was former dean of the University of Navarra’s School of Economics and is now director of the Navarra Center for International Development.

Prof. Ravina also met with UA&P co-founder and Center for Research and Communication (CRC) Director Dr. Bernardo M. Villegas to discuss possible collaboration with CRC.

Prof. Ravina’s five-day visit included a session with leaders of social initiatives such as Foodlink Cooperative and Dualtech Center. He also visited two social enterprises in Batangas province: Buklod-Unlad Multipurpose Cooperative in Taysan and Dagatan Family Farm School in Lipa City.

Dr. Amado Saquido welcomes Dr. Luis Ravina and four students from the University of Navarra.

Accompanied by some of his students from Spain, Prof. Ravina met with faculty members and fifth-year students of the UA&P School of Economics.

In a get-together with them, he shared his experience in starting a new think-tank at the University of Navarra. He said starting such an enterprise needs outstanding research, as well as an understanding of the interdisciplinary nature of international development.
