REG Advisory: Reminders on the Retention Policy of the University

AB / BS Program: To be retained in the University, students under the AB/BS 4-Year Programs beginning Entry Batch 2010-2011 must meet the following standards:

  • A WA of 2.75 in their freshmen and sophomore years;
  • Pass at least 70% of the total no. of units coursed in the junior year (including summer)
  • Pass all the required subjects for graduation in the senior year
  • Maximum residency shall be six (6) years

Note: Students under the B.S. Industrial Engineering program, which has a five year curriculum as
mandated by CHED, must meet the following standards:

  • WA of 2.75 in their freshmen, sophomore, and junior years;
  • Pass at least 70% of the total no. of academic units coursed in the 4th year (including summer term)
  • Pass all the required subjects for graduation in the 5th year
  • Maximum residency shall be seven (7) years

MA/MS Straight Program: To be retained in the University, students under the MA/MS 5-Year Programs beginning Entry Batch 2010-2011 must meet the following minimum standards:

  • WA of 2.75 in their 1st year (for entry into 2nd year)
  • WA of 2.50 in their 2nd year (for entry into 3rd year)
  • WA of 2.25 in their 3rd year (for entry into 4th year)
  • WA of 2.00 in their 4th year (for entry into 5th year)
  • Pass all the required subjects for graduation in the 5th year
  • Maximum residency shall be seven (7) years
  • The No CAS Back Subject Policy for entry into 4th year shall be enforced

Additional retention standards may be required by your specific program of study, especially for admission to the 5th year of the 5-Year Programs.

Students of Entry Batch 2009-2010 and below follow the retention policy indicated in the Student Handbook of SY 2009-2010, page 35.
