New UA&P PhD-degree holders

Five UA&P faculty members were recently conferred doctorates in different fields. They all obtained their PhD from the University of the Philippines Diliman.

School of Management's Dr. Ceferino Rodolfo

School of Management (SMN) Vice-Dean Ceferino Rodolfo received his PhD in Public Administration. His dissertation is entitled “A Study of the Decision-making Process during the Philippines-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement Trade Negotiations.”

Dr. Brenda Quismorio, also of SMN, was granted a doctorate in Business Administration. She successfully defended her dissertation “A Measure of Value-at-Risk (VaR) for Fat-Tailed Distributed Philippine Stock Index and Philippine Portfolios with Selected International Stock Indices: An Extreme Value Theory (EVT) – Copula Approach.”

Five-peat Palanca awardee Dr. Joachim Antonio

Dr. Jose Marcelino Nicdao, a full- time faculty member of the College of Arts and Sciences, attained his doctorate in Comparative Literature. His dissertation is entitled “Translating Chinese Literature: Selected Contemporary Short Stories from Taiwan.”

College of Arts and Sciences faculty Dr. Arnel Joven graduated with a PhD in History. His dissertation is entitled “Medicine and Health Care during the Japanese Occupation Period, 1941-1945: Adaptations and Negotiations in Lowland Luzon.”

A five-time winner of the Palanca Awards, Dr. Joachim Antonio also earned his PhD in Creative Writing. In the past school year he defended his doctoral dissertation “The Operatic Template of a Basic Plot and Other Plays for Young Adults.”
