Technoodling Editor-in-Chief and UA&P faculty member Jason de Villa.

Named “The Tech Junkie” in this year’s Globe Tatt Awards, a faculty member of the University of Asia and the Pacific now ranks among the luminaries of the Philippine social media scene.

Jason De Villa of the School of Communication won the title for his work as editor-in-chief of Technoodling, a popular tech news and review site established in 2010.

Given annually, the Globe Tatt Awards “[honors] those who made remarkable impact on the local social media landscape.” It has 10 major categories, including “The Tech Junkie,” which “salutes the blogger who’s the most up-to-date with the newest technology, gadgets, and games.”

According to the Globe Tatt Awards, winners were chosen by the Tatt Council and the online votes cast last month.

After the June 29 awarding ceremony at the NBC Tent, De Villa thanked his supporters in a note at Technoodling.

“Although we have no idea who nominated us, we’re grateful, and happy,” he wrote. “Thanks to everyone who voted for us, and cajoled their friends into voting for us, and cheered us on in many ways.”

De Villa is a PhD candidate at the University of Navarra in Spain. He earned his MA in communication from the University of the Philippines.
