UA&P launches jazzed up website

The University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) has launched a new website that’s faster, snazzier, and at pace with the “rapidly evolving” Web.

The University’s former website, besides “bearing some technical and usability limitations,” had already “served its purpose” and had to be upgraded, said Camille Diola, officer for new media at the UA&P Corporate Communications Office (CCO).

“It is timely to launch a new, more user-friendly portal that enables mobile access, provides more relevant content to various publics, and responds to the needs of various units within the University,” she said.

The website — now sporting a sliding screen-wide banner image — retains the University’s URL (, but incorporates a slew of new features.

Now its homepage displays news and announcements, which have their equally redesigned microsite at

The new comprehensive Event Calendar (powered by Google Calendar) enables Google users to instantly add the calendar to their account. Non-Google users may subscribe to the calendar through RSS.

Diola added that CCO, working with digital team Ronnie Morales Design Communications, will release a mobile version of the website.

Academic and administrative units of the University will also be able to create microsites of their own, using a special platform that retains the corporate website’s look and feel.

According to Diola, UA&P aims to keep its website dynamic and innovative, keeping up with the “rapidly evolving digital communications trends and technologies.”

The website is a crucial tool for the University to reach more people and attain its mission of contributing to integral human development in the Asia-Pacific region, she said, referring to Strategic Vision 2018.
