Winners of this year’s Belenistas de Ortigas outdoor belen-making contest received their awards December 12 at the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P).

Organizers UA&P, Ortigas Center Association Inc. (OCAI), and Barangay San Antonio (BSA) gave the first prize to the OAC Realty Building’s colorful belen made of native materials.

The second and third prizes were given to Ortigas & Co. Ltd. Partnership Building and the Philippine Stock Exchange Centre, respectively.

Eight buildings participated in this year’s competition, which aims to promote the true meaning of Christmas — the birth of Christ — amid a consumeristic society.

OCAI official Luz Cotoco, BSA Councilor Emmanuel Medalla, and UA&P student affairs head Rene Ledesma graced the occasion.

A choral festival also highlighted the awarding rites. The Poveda Children’s Choir, Koro de San Jose, and UA&P Chorale entertained the audience with various Christmas songs, capping off the night with the classic “O Come, All Ye Faithful.”
