After belting out a series of well-lauded performances — with one aired on national TV — the UA&P Chorale staged a Christmas fundraising concert at the Dizon Auditorium, December 14.

Choirmaster Noemi Binag said the event was held to celebrate Christmas and thank God for his “blessings and faithfulness for the year.”

Among the Chorale’s biggest feats last year was bagging the top prize in the Heavenly Voices Choral Competition – College Category sponsored by the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines.

The group also performed in various events, including the start of the Belenistas de Ortigas belen-making contest, a choral fest in Eastwood City, and a morning show on ABS-CBN.

According to Binag, the concert (entitled “Paskong Anong Saya”) was special for being the first one staged by the latest Chorale batch, the members of which are non-music majors.

“A four-month-old batch struggling to learn songs quite advanced for their state, and me teaching them music theory at the same time, is really something,” remarked Binag.

She was also impressed by her choristers’ “enthusiasm and stewardship,” which she said “keep them singing.”

Part of the concert’s proceeds will be used for the group’s official costumes and workshops with well-known choral clinicians. The Chorale will also teach underprivileged kids choral music and might form a choir out of them.
