Asian Media Information and Communication Centre (AMIC) Secretary-General Martin Hadlow met on February 1 with UA&P officials and talked about possible collaborations with the University.

University President Jose Maria Mariano welcomed Hadlow, who only recently was appointed to the top position of the Singapore-based organization. AMIC, established in 1971, aims to lead the development of media and communication expertise in Asia within the broad framework of economic, social, and cultural development. It is based in the School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University.

Hadlow was on a two-day official trip to the Philippines as guest-speaker in “Pinoy Media Congress”, organized by ABS-CBN and Philippine Association of Communication Educators (PACE). Chi-Chi Robles, Managing Director of the UA&P Corporate Communications Office, former Acting Secretary-General of AMIC and past PACE president, accompanied Hadlow to the University.

Hadlow was an Associate Professor at the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. He was also a senior member of the UNESCO Secretariat and was the convenor of the UN World Press Freedom Day Conference in 2010.
