We have all witnessed via news media the severe devastation wrought by super typhoon Yolanda in the provinces of Leyte, Samar, Iloilo, Capiz, Antique, Aklan, Negros Occidental, Cebu, Mindoro, and Palawan, and the death and suffering of thousands of our fellow Filipinos in its wake. Our Christian faith and our University spirit move us to contribute our share to national alleviation efforts. The Management Committee enjoins all our faculty, staff, past and current students, and their families to open their hearts and extend their help to the typhoon victims.
The ManCom fully supports the initiative of the Center for Student Affairs and the University Student Government, and that of the Human Resources Management Office to seek monetary and material donations from students, alumni, faculty, and staff of UA&P, and from our partners and friends. Our past relief efforts have been successful and meaningful. They mobilized many of our employees and students and touched many lives in the process. Our deepest gratitude go out to all those who have supported these efforts with their cash contributions and relief good donations. This latest calamity presents another opportunity for us to come together for the sake of our brethren.
Aside from the material support, may we ask for your prayers for the souls of those who perished and for the general welfare of the affected families. Pray especially for a number of our faculty and students who have not yet been able to contact their families in the Visayas. Let us implore God for the safety of their loved ones and for their families’ eventual reunion. May our Lord give them hope and strength as they rebuild their lives.
Thank you very much.
Very truly yours,
Dr. Jose Maria G. Mariano
