Last September 25, the municipality of San Mateo, Rizal honored UA&P student organization CATALYST with two Gawad Parangal Awards for its “outstanding service to the youth of San Mateo.” The awards were presented by Hon. Mayor Jose Rafael Diaz and Hon. Vice Mayor Cristina Diaz during the 443rd Foundation Day celebration of San Mateo, in which outstanding groups and individuals were recognized for their exemplary contributions to the municipality.
CATALYST was lauded for its project “A Handful of Dreams: CATALYST Outreach Fair 2014,” which aimed to inspire the children of San Mateo to dream big last September 6, while UA&P alumnus and CATALYST Senior President Patrick Lim was awarded for his work in supporting San Mateo in recent years.
“It is a great honor to receive such awards,” said CATALYST Chief Marketing Officer Jeremy Orlina. “Through this milestone we hope to echo our message even stronger that in helping others, there are really no specific requirements. You don’t have to be ‘wealthy enough,’ ‘smart enough’ or ‘old enough,’ to be able to lend a hand in giving service to others. You only need to be committed.”
