Last November 27, different foreign embassies once again gathered in the Telengtan Hall of University of Asia and the Pacific to launch the second season of the Ambassadors Cup.
Partnering once again with the embassies, the Henry V. Moran Foundation, Team Socceroo Football Club, Inc., and the Philippine Football Association, the grassroots football project aims to teach kids from underprivileged communities in developing self-confidence, skills, virtues and good character development through futsal.
Out of the original eleven, eight embassies chose to participate and adopt a community, train the kids, nurture, and oversee their development over a specified amount of time.
UA&P President Dr. Jose Maria Mariano reiterated how committed the University is to what they have started, and how “this project is not ultimately about football – or futsal – but about the message that the sport may be brought to convey and the sport may be brought to convey and the unique power the sport has in delivering it,” reports Business World.
