After 10 years, the UA&P Chorale has once again brought international prestige to the University, having been awarded a Gold Diploma – Level 2 during the 4th Vietnam International Choir Competition last May 2.
As explained by the UA&P Chorale’s membership head Audrey Tamayo, the Gold Diploma – Level 2 is awarded to the rightful choir based on the number of points accumulated.
“So with the number of points we collected, we received gold. This ranking will allow us to join other international competitions,” said Audrey in an online interview.
The UA&P Chorale garnered an overall score of 22.06 in the Mixed Youth Choirs Category (G3).
“So I guess for our first try, we got a good ranking, and I consider that a great achievement.”
The competition ran from April 29 until May 3, where the group of 30, led by choirmaster and UA&P alumna Noemi Binag, sang alongside different choir groups from all over the world. Other Philippine teams were also present during the event, such as Colegio de Sta. Rosa Makati Himig Roseña and Coro San Nicoleño, who represented the country in the Grand Prix.
The UA&P Chorale first participated in an international chorale competition back in 2005, where they competed in Preveza, Greece.
The group will fly back to Manila on May 5.
