All three teams from University of Asia and the Pacific’s official student publication The Bosun competed and placed as finalists in the Digital News Media Competition during the second Le Maste: Asian Leadership Management Congress held in Davao last August 22 to 23.
Teams from different participating schools were given the task to create on the spot, one-minute news video reports tackling the recent killing of Pamana, the Philippine eagle shot dead in Mt. Hamiguitan of Davao Oriental, only two months after being released on Independence Day, June 12.
The Bosun managed to bag first, second and third runner-ups, with the following teams:
1st runner-up: Danilo Navarro, Anica Franco, Rhencis Recaña
2nd runner-up: Mikey Ramos, Gleefer Jalea, Liezl Cabrera
3rd runner-up: Patrice Salas, Allen Fernandez, Clarisa Manzon
This is not the first time that The Bosun has been recognized at Le Maste; last year they managed to grab the championship and first runner-up positions in the National News Casting Competition.
The Le Maste Asian Leadership Management Congress is the biggest two-day Asia-wide Level Congress that brings around 3,000 students, youth leaders, young professionals, and school administrators all over Asia, to battle it out in three categories: Corporate & Finance Management, Music and the Multi-media Arts, and Communication & Program Management. The first Le Maste competition last year was held in Cagayan de Oro. You can read more about The Bosun’s win in 2014 here.
