School of Economics to host lecture by Dr. Bernardo Villegas

As part of the School of Economics’ founding anniversary celebration this August, the School will hold a special lecture featuring Dr. Bernardo Villegas, one of the School’s founders, on August 28 (Friday), from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm at the Celestino Dizon Auditorium.

The lecture will offer participants an opportunity to learn about the role of economists in studying industries, understanding the forces that shape the economy, and contributing to economic development. It will trace the Philippine economy’s journey from policy reform to industry development, highlighting how sound economic thinking can create opportunities, improve lives, and reduce poverty.

The lecture will also explore the work, perspective, and mission of an industrial economist, and how economists can help shape industries and institutions for the common good.
